Andrew McMeel Publishing has made some of its youth content free for at home learning purposes. This includes teaching guides and activities. You may be familiar with Andrew McMeel Publishing from the graphic novel series, Phoebe and Her Unicorn.
Beanstalk has made its educational content for preschoolers free during the pandemic. Another good resource for preschool aged children is Purple Mash.
MathSpace is also available for free now, the only catch is you must submit the full name of the closed school in which you attend before they give you access. MathScore is another good place to go for math worksheets, organized by grade level.
NASA has some great STEM content for K-12 students who are out of school. Science Buddies also has a bunch of free STEM content, especially at home science experiments. These activities typically take an hour or less.
Scholastic Teachables has an amazing wealth of worksheets, printables, and educational activities based on grade level. They do have a login to gain access though: the username is schteachables46 and the password is blue. This login information has been freely distributed.
123Homeschool is another good place to go for printable worksheets. This resource is more geared towards home school families but really, anyone can use it to learn!
As for reading, we are very excited to learn that ABDO Publishing has made its entire digital library free during the pandemic. Many of these titles are going to be nonfiction, since that is what ABDO specializes in.
There are so many places offering virtual tours from museums to zoos. Here is another master list for taking an educational field trip from the comfort of home.
Finally, do not let me forget about PE! Here is a good resource for at-home physical education. This is coming from the Society of Health and Physical Educators, so they definitely know what they are talking about!
Our very own McHenry County Conservation District also has e-learning resources for physical activities and outdoor learning. Keep in mind, while the Illinois State Parks are closed, the McHenry County Conservation District sites ARE OPEN (Press Release Here). As long as the parking lot is not more than 50% full, you are free to use these sites. Keep in mind that while the trails are open, the buildings — INCLUDING all of their bathrooms — are closed.
