Our Reading Patch Club is back for the 2019-2020 school year! This reading program was designed for K-8th grade students (if you’re currently participating in 1001 Books Before Kindergarten, this is not for you — yet!). All you need is your Algonquin Area Public Library card.
This year we have new Patch Club bags, which you can earn after completing 5 patches. Not sure how to sew? Head on up to the Makerspace to learn how to use one of our sewing machines. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult in the Makerspace.
Read to Me
The Read to Me program is for children still reading with an adult or being read to by an adult. You will receive a yellow log and fill out 30 titles based on the genre-themed patch you and your child decide to earn. Once you read all 30 titles, turn in your log at the Youth Services desk, receive your patch, pick your next patch to earn, and keep going till you collect them all.
Reading on My Own
Reading on My Own program is for children who have started to read chapter books independently. When you sign up your child for this program he or she will receive a blue log and only have to read 8 titles based on a genre themed patch. Once all 8 titles have been read, turn in the log at the Youth Services desk, receive the patch, pick the next patch, and keep going!
