Fermilab at the Library!

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is a United States Department of Energy national laboratory that specializes in high-energy particle physics. They are located nearby in Batavia, Illinois and will be sending two real scientists to the library on Columbus Day (Monday, October 8) from 2:00-3:00pm. They will be teaching us about the physics of Light and Color. This program is for grades 2-8 and is limited to Algonquin cardholders — register here.

Fun Fact — Fermilab is named after Enrico Fermi, an Italian-American physicist who created the first nuclear reactor while working on the Manhattan Project with Robert Oppenheimer. To learn more about the Manhattan Project, check out the book Bomb by Steve Sheinkin!
